There is a new destination brunch spot in Burnaby – The Gray Olive Cafeteria. Although the space may look small, the food is well worth any wait times and the space is a cozy and inviting one that always makes you feel welcome.
Truly a family owned business, we had the pleasure of working with brothers Brian, Jeremy and Steve Wong from day one as they sought out a new space for their dream business. It took a bit longer than expected in Vancouver’s tough real estate market. But when the Hastings Street location was found it was a match made in heaven.
The goal was to create an inviting and roomy feel in the very small space, and we also had the added challenge of utilizing the existing kitchen to suit the new client’s needs. Our friends at Cutler were the perfect fit to bring on board for the interior design, and hats off to them as the space won them a Best of Canada design award! This space is in the details
The intricate tile work nestles beautifully into the hardwood floor and the rounded edges of the millwork add an elegant touch. Through close communication and value engineering, we worked with the Cutler team to build a space that looks like a million bucks but that cost significantly less – key for any new restauranteur joining Vancouver’s booming restaurant industry.
So the next time you’re in the Burnaby Heights area be sure to stop in for a bite at The Gray Olive. With nostalgic menu items such as The Breaky Sandwich and The Kitchen Sink, you’ll leave feeling like a (very full!) kid again.
