The Holy Crab

A Huge And Heavenly Space

Seafood worshippers around Vancouver were singing praises when news of The Holy Crab came around. Literally a seafood lovers’ heaven, the Louisiana-inspired restaurant encourages everyone to come in, roll up their sleeves, and get crackin’!

That’s the beauty of this place, and we made sure that we factored this laid-back style of eating into the project from start to finish. We worked closely with the owners of The Holy Crab from the very early stages to find the perfect space in Vancouver for this type of concept. It took us a while, but then we landed on an old 7-11 store in the heart of Robson Street’s busy restaurant scene and we knew we had a winner. There wasn’t much to work with though.

Back to basics

We took the entire space down to 4 walls and started completely from scratch. The talented team over at MGBA designed an open concept restaurant with an industrial / nautical theme that had a ton of unique, custom features that we brought to life, including:

– Hand-painted mural along the entire wall.

– Custom light fixtures that were welded, sewn, and stitched by our teams. Even the fabric was sourced from old sailboat sails.

– Beautiful mahogany wall panelling throughout the space.

– Hand-painted stencil floor.

In addition to the design details, The Holy Crab kitchen is massive and required extensive planning, coordination, and installation of the kitchen equipment. Our teams worked around the clock to get this restaurant open. Although we faced some permit delays from the city, we knew our clients needed to get their doors open and we made the impossible possible. Hallelujah!
