Since 2010 Cycle City has been helping people connect with Vancouver via bicycle. Over the past 9 years the company has organically grown from a one-man tour operation to a multi-location business encompassing tours, rentals, and retail with over 50 employees.
Pacific Solutions Contracting came in as the General Contractor to help the Cycle City team expand into a neighbouring commercial unit beside their Hornby Street location. The space was big and had great windows, but it needed a lot of work to get it to where it needed to be to suit the Cycle City brand and allow the team to deliver on the quality of service they are known for.
We worked closely with Josh, Cycle City’s owner and Chief Pedaller, and Jason of Skladan Design and Architecture to make sure Cycle City’s brand identity and business goals would be accurately communicated in the new store. You can read more about the specifics on how the retail design came to life in this piece – “Retail Design For Your Business”.
Some of the unique, key features that make the Cycle City space stand out are:
- The custom bike wash station in the back of the space. This allows the team to wash any bikes coming in for service, returning them to their owners all spic and span.
- The floor to ceiling mural of Vancouver’s sea wall.
- The gallery-like bike display that includes white walls and direct lighting.
- The mix of warm/neutral and industrial materials.
- The awesome sound system and lighting.
Whether you’re in the market for a new bike, looking to service your existing one, or have some friends visiting and you need some extra bikes to boogie around town – Cycle City really is Vancouver’s go-to destination for everything bike related (and more) in the city.
