We all know it – technology is moving quickly these days. We’re seeing it across all industries, including construction. Every day we are discovering new construction technology that can help us do our jobs even better across all departments here at PSC. From time tracking to client communication to site management, the evolution of construction technology is pretty exciting stuff!
One tool we’ve recently used at the Nook Restaurant site at The Shipyards is a 3D scan. Traditionally used for completed real-estate projects, we were keen to explore how we could use this construction technology in a commercial capacity. Although a scan at this phase of the construction process isn’t as pretty as the finished product it is very useful. For example, we can now see where the services are in the walls before everything gets covered up with drywall and finishes. Should the client ever need to have something serviced down the road, we can now quickly and easily see where things are without opening up the walls.
The 3D construction scan is interactive, so you can move through the Nook Shipyards site as if you were physically in North Vancouver walking through the space. Just click the location you want to move to and you’ll head in that direction. You can turn around, move around corners, and inspect all the “nooks and crannies”! Get it – “nooks”? 😉
