At Pacific, we are incredibly grateful for the community of Vancouver that has supported us from the very beginning. Vancouver is not an easy city to carve a place out in, and we’re reminded every day about how lucky we are to be doing what we do in the city that we love.
We believe it is important to be able to give back to our community, especially around the holidays. In the past we’ve put together a fundraising calendar and hosted pop-up shops to support local organizations focused on causes we care about. This year we put a poll out to the team to get some feedback on what causes matter most to people. The top causes that mattered to our team were poverty reduction, homelessness, and children/youth.
With this in mind we were connected with Directions Youth Services, an organization in downtown Vancouver that supports youth under the age of 25 living on Vancouver’s streets. We found out what they needed this time of the year and purchased supplies from the team behind Kits for a Cause. Then we organized our December 13th event – a kit packing afternoon that brought our team together to put some time, work, and love into assembling 200 kits for Directions to distribute to Vancouver’s homeless youth. We were even lucky enough to have John from Directions come by and say a few words, which was an awesome way for us to learn more about the work they do before building the kits.
Not only did our team have a great time, but all of our time and work went to supporting a great organization in our community. And for that we are grateful.
